Hi James,
I have a question regarding the grand prizes on some of the contests. a couple
of months ago I received an email saying I had won a grand prize from a contest
sweeps. I don't recall that it had the name of the contest in the email. I became
suspicious when it asked that all personal info plus copy of driver's license be
FAXED to them. I figured it was just a scam, because wouldn't most companies
notify you by mail/fedex, etc.? Then I thought awhile later maybe I was behind the
times and some companies did work the other way.
Could you maybe address how most companies contact you when you win and
what they will ask for when you do? I hate to think I missed out on a grand prize
because of my ignorance :)

You know, it all really depends...
They can do email, registered letter, etc.

I think the easiest way would look at the email address. Is it from yahoo, hotmail,
or one of the other free services? I don't think it would be legit.
See if the email address comes from a "top level" domain. (their website.com)
You can also check out the domain and see who owns it.

Also, a company will need your social security number if the prize is valued
at $600 or over. I'm sure they will also need your drivers license to check
your identity as well.
